The Women's Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation's aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK.The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
The WI celebrate's its centenary this year (2015) and currently has 212,000 members in around 6,600 WIs.
The Crowland Women's Institute has monthly meetings which are held at 7.15pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the British Legion Hall, Broadway Crowland. During the evenings we have guest speakers and activities covering a wide variety of topics. We also have a separate craft evening once a month. New members are always welcome.
For more information please contact Ann Caprio on 01733 210341.
Please note that you do not have to be a member of the WI or a resident of Crowland to enter any of the classes in the programme.
We have external judges who arrive after the items have been set out.
Your entry fee is simply 50p per entry in any class. Children receive free entry.
